A trip to the Queen of Hills

I promised in my last write up, I would talk about Kolkata, Delhi and Imphal but I changed my mind subtely because I want to talk more about a hill station rather than a plain station and instead would be glad to write about Dehra Dun and Mussorie. It was just a plan we made three days before we actually rode to travel. But trust me the entire ride was worth it.

We booked a Gozo cab and fixed our ride at around 3pm in the late noon. Our rides encompassed Modi Nagar, Jatpura, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Muradnagar, Meerut, Dungar, Roorkee and a lot of innumerable places until we reached Dehra Dun at around 7pm. Our rooms were booked in Mussorie but I wanted desperately to stay back in Dehradun. I fell in love with the place instantly. It is a small place no wonder, but terrifc environment and the cleanest city I ever have come across as much the development is concerned.

But without a shelter to run for we could not afford to spend the night on the streets so reached Mussorie at 10 o’clock at night. I was worried about getting a warm nice dinner even though I had already ordered one to the hotel manager prior to booking our hotel rooms. But inspite of all my worries we were served warm hot dinner as per menu :)

It was in the month of dreading June we went. The weather was similar to that of Shillong during winters. Blankets were very much needed but I didn’t expect the weather to be so cold and had not brought any warm clothes with me. Thankfully, he had asked me to take with me a denim shirt and that protected me throughout our entire trip.

Food was not much diffeent as Mussorie was just a few hours away from our home in Greater Noida. But I made sure to have ice cream every night to crave my appetite for a dessert. The mall road is full of various eateries. We had momos, we had street food but none is comparable to those in Kolkata and in Guwahati. Guwahati has the best momos and the street food in Kolkata by the Oriya hawkers are too temptous.

The hills of Mussorie are the raging Queens and they will always hold the prime spot for any nature lovers. Our hotel room had a window view that was so mesmerizing that words fail to do justice to the decription of the beauty that our eyes witnessed.

A travelogue can only put up the menu, it is for the travlers to visit and enrich their experiences. I loved Dehradun a lot and I wish someday we could spent our lives together in that small beautiful hilly town of Uttrakhand.

PS: One cannot hold residential housing in Mussorie so my next destination was to have a permanent residence in Dehradun; haha :)
