The Delta Plus variant

Well, on May 9th, 2021, I suddenly started feel weak and had to shut down my work at around 10 am and lied down on my bed immediately. I was unable to move my body. Somehow I managed to take my bath and had my lunch. After that I realized how I was actually running a fever. At around 2pm, I measured my body temperature and it was 99 degree Fahrenheit. I told my husband over phone and he asked me to consult a physician and I was reluctant because one month ago I had a sore throat, runny nose and felt completely out of tune but I had recovered well. But he was so adamant that he made me book a doctor from Apollo Hospital and she was undoubtedly the best one. She told me that she suspected me to be infected with Covid-19 and gave a long list of medicines. By 6 pm my fever went as high as 102 degree but I was managing fine. I took the medicines which my brother brought for me and everyone in my family told that I had caught a common cold and there is nothing to worry about. My mother called up my husband and he made her understand how taking these medicines were important for me as the current situation in the country is of an ongoing pandemic. I finally managed to do a home RT-PCR test (all thanks to my husband) as currently Guwahati lacks a home based RT-PCR test and I was tested positive. I was mentally wrecked. I cried, thinking my end had come. My mother supported me mentally and gave me courage. My father-in-law too made sure to boost up my mental energy saying that Covid can be won only by having a positive attitude. The battle is against your negative thoughts and not so much on your physical strength. Your body is fighting, you need to train your mind to fight the battle against Covid. Amit Sir would daily send me a motivational message early in the morning, sometimes some funny videos, all to boost up my morale. I am fortunate to have such people included in my life. On my fifth day my mother tested positive and on my twelfth day my father tested positive. It was a long battle I had to endure. The fact that I was a Covid patient flew out of my mind when my parents were tested positive. Because I was the only one who could tend to them so I had to take up all the responsibilities and by God’s grace we recovered all well. Here, I would like to thank all the three doctors whom I had consulted for my parents’ well being. I guess without their mental support I would not have been able to take up this responsibility (which was Heculean for me) as I had mentally collapsed down. Thank you God and my fellow humans who bailed me out of this trauma. It continued to linger for over a month but I am now back on track. So cheers!!
